![]() But I found it fascinating - and rather scary - that there was this huge anti-authoritarin backlash to the established authority figure who had lead a nation to a reasonable approximation of a utopia for a thousand years and simultaneously a championing of the "underdog" who not five minutes prior had been trying to bring (to the best of our knowledge at the time) the end of the world but never the reverse. Both theries are equally valid fan-fodder (and neither is particularly supported by the show). ![]() And it wasn't just the pony fandom being overly optimistic or forgiving or something, since AT THE SAME TIME we go so many stories about how Celestia must be an evil mastermind. Now I'm not saying she isn't, I'm saying it was remarkable that everypony almost unilaterally assumed that. Almost everypony at the time seemed just assumed on faith that Luna=good from the strength of one harmony beam + one apology + some tears. Uses crown, transforms to demon with power bump.Which of course, did not exist back in the time in question. My evidence is when Sunset Shimmer attempts the same thing in the first Equestria Girls movie. And EVEN AFTER Luna is returned to her senses, Celestia has her learning about friendship and such instead of letting her lose to go fight things.Ĭrystal Empire reappears? Not sending Luna. Celestia was justified in locking her away for a 1000 year time out. Woona nothing, that girl had a dark side and she did it to herself. Uses crown, transforms to demon with power bump.īut Sunset could not harm Twilight and the Element Bearers for the same reason Luna as Nightmare Moon could not defeat Celestia. Hell, I think she used the Elements of Harmony to get the powebump to go from Luna to Nightmare Moon. No outside powers controlling her, or Mooninites, or whatever. Guess I just didn't think much of it because I always felt Luna WAS evil as Nightmare Moon because they're the same pony. Yet I have only ever seen, what, maybe THREE fanfics - of which this is one - ever deal with that possiblity of Evil!Luna (and how many with Tyrant!Celestia.?) and 2/3 were comedies, threating her like some incompetance Saturday morning villain. (It's not so much these days, but it wa very bad in the early days of the fandom.) I noted it because I couldn't quite believe how easily everypony seemed to take to a pony with one line and maybe ten seconds of screen time just because they felt sorry for her while simultaneously villifying Celestia. She could have been disembling as easy as any Changeling and clearly, only the most calcualtive or paranoid would have thought anything of it. Everypony immediately jumped in with sympathy and shook their hooves at big bully Celestia, locking away cute wittle Woona. Almost the entire fandom would have fallen for that, had it been true, that's how easy it would have been. That one line and few tears was all it would have taken. I wouldn't mind, but I started the chapter having loaded up with lots of normal arrows, and I'm trying to get rid of them now (I've got for everlasting arrows now.!), but I keep finding more ammunition trasure than I can fire and I spent most of the last couple of areas just shooting things, rather than using my spells and whatnot!Īlmost the first post in ponythread I ever made was to point out how easy it would have been for Luna to have been evil, defeated and stripped of her Nightmare powers, but biding her time for the next attempt. You can't fault IWD2 for ammunition treasure, though despite a party of ranged attackers (four with Rapid shot and bows), currently about half the party's entire inventory is full of arrows and bolts. I Lichfully fought through the first rank and then said "eenope, not doing that another nine times with ridiculously mush harder opposition, where's that mod." And realised I needed to do 250-something solo combats to clear it and thought "yes, this is why they put that thing in the Ease of Use mod that just gives you the kit and the XP." (Not that you actualy get XP from the fights.) Because unlife's too short. Oh, and to clear each rank, you need to fight 3,4,5,6 and 7 squares before getting your line of three. ![]() I got to the battle squares puzzle - which is like tic-tac-toe, except you have to fight a monster (solo) in 60 seconds or less for every square, and you have to get a line of 3 squares. So, I found myself, as I play through IWD2, equipping my entire (female) party all with matching winter wolf fur hats.
